Plaid skirts were wildly popular choices in the 1950’s for fall and winter wear. Their longer length helped to keep the legs warm from the cold, and came in many types of fabrics, from cotton to wool. These two skirts, priced from $16-$28 (as of the time of this writing, and depending on size and color selection) are some of the most prized garments in my fall and winter wardrobe. They are a cotton and polyester blend fabric, with pockets and a fully elasticized waist. While the fabric is not as heavy as it looks, the added length does an excellent job of keeping the chilly wind away! I have been pairing these skirts with fleece lined tights for extra warmth, and they do splendidly with fitted tops, tucked in sweaters and cropped cardigans. I typically see 3-6 pattern varieties available at any given time. Find them here.
